YouthLink Scotland's vision is...

To lead the youth work sector in Scotland.  It will champion the role and value of the sector and challenge government to invest in the development of dynamic and accessible youth work opportunities demonstrating Scotland's commitment to young people.

Mission Statement

As the National Youth Work Agency in Scotland our mission is to be the collective voice of youth work and to represent the needs and interests of the youth work sector with regard to policy and practice, to government and other stakeholders, to achieve this we aim:

  • To promote a positive image of young people and youth work.
  • To be a key partner with government in work force development.
  • To represent the range of views and interests of the sector to all levels of government in Scotland through public affairs activities.
  • To develop and promote good practice and act as a centre point for the establishment of networks and partnerships.
  • To provide information and support to the youth work sector and other partners.
  • To help the sector to identify new sources of sustainable funding and the effective use of existing resources.
  • To undertake research that will lead to the better understanding of the role of youth work and the needs of young people in Scottish society.
  • To maintain an independent approach to the prosecution of this mission.

Aims

  • To offer services which support the field and improve the quality of youth work.
  • To raise and improve the profile of the youth work sector with regard to its ability to deliver on the National Youth Work Strategy.
  • To inform and influence policies and associated resourcing which relate to young people and to those who work with them.
  • To champion in partnership with others the potential and achievements of Scotland's young people.
  • To achieve these aims using the three pillars of information, formation and influence.
