Study Visits

Youth Work in Finland, Netherlands, Ireland and Bavaria

In 2005 YouthLink Scotland organised a series of 4 youth work study visits to EU member states.

The visits were organised to examine youth work in order to inform the national strategy for youth work in Scotland; to build strategic links; and to find out more about the implementation of the EU White Paper on Youth.  The countries were chosen as a result of a literature review of youth work in European countries, which was carried out by the Scottish Executive.  The countries visited were Finalnd, the Netherlands, Ireland and Germany (Bavaria).

The study visits were carried out with the support of the European  Community as part of the Youth Programme (Action 5), administered by the British Council Scotland.  Action 5 aims to support innovative co-operation, training and information projects in the field of non-formal education.  In this case, the priority theme was "innovation in youth work".

Below you can read a short report on each of the study visits.
