Developing the capacity of the Youth Work Sector in Scotland
As a result of the publication Empowered to Practice, the Scottish Executive's response to the Community Education Training Review YouthLink Scotland aims to work in partnership with key agencies at a strategic level to develop wider access to training in youth work.
YouthLink Scotland are responsible for co-ordinating initiatives between training providers and employers within the Youth Work Sector in Scotland to develop and promote the following workbased training opportunities.
Empowered to Practice
The Scottish Executive response to the Community Education Training Review: was published in February 2003 entitled Empower to Practice, the future of community learning and development in Scotland. The report highlights twelve recommendations that will impact on the future training and development of the Community Learning & Development workforce.

"Community regeneration, community planning, lifelong learning, adult literacy and numeracy and developing youth policy present changing challenges to practitioners engaged in community learning and development. It is vital that, as with other professions, those working in the community learning and development field and those training to enter it are equipped with the knowledge, confidence and skills to provide the highest quality service to address the diverse range of needs and issues."

Ted Milburn is chairman of the Short Life Task Group set up to consider and give advice on issues arising from the Empowered to Practice. The Task Group has submitted their final report to the ministers. Further information on the report will be available on this site once the report is published.
